Stickledown Range at Bisley. One of the finest long-range venues in the world, where we typically shoot at 900 & 1000 yards
Target Rifle Shooting @ The Surrey
The sport of target shooting in the UK is governed by the National Rifle Association (NRA) and includes a wide variety of disciplines including target rifle (fullbore and smallbore), sporting rifle, gallery rifle & pistol, F class, classic rifle & pistol, match rifle, service rifle, practical rifle, muzzle loading, and shotgun (various disciplines).
The Surrey is primarily involved with the disciplines of fullbore target rifle, and to a lesser extent F-class & Match rifle. As our name suggests, we also happen to be the target rifle home for the County of Surrey, but this is neither a requirement of membership nor for participation. Indeed, we have members from as far afield as The Caribbean, New Zealand and South Africa.
A number of clubs are affiliated with the SRA - these are mostly linked to Schools or Universities within the UK, but also some 'open' clubs
These clubs are listed on the Benefits of Membership page.
Target rifle shooting:~ as a County & Club we are reasonably good at it, having won the inter-counties competition in the UK on many occasions.
Socialising @ The Surrey
We're not all about Highest Possible Score, Grand Aggregate position or convoluted excuses for unexplained 'flyers', The Surrey is also recognised as a club with a healthy social scene too.
If you're interested in a hearty conversation with the lass who just beat you by 12 'central bulls' and still insists on you buying her a beverage for good measure, if you fancy a seat in a lively garden setting where you might see a skateboarder, Irish Wolfhound and sun-burned antipodean all on the same evening, or pehaps a sing-song with 150 people during the remnants of the Imperial Meeting? Then The Surrey is the place for you.
